i'm a newbie!

i have a question about the side air bags. i am planning on talking to the dealership tomorrow but thought i'd do a little searching before i do that. my car is still in the body shop. i really don't have time to search thru all the threads and the 'search' that i did, didn't help.

i was broadsided last month (6/6/2010), on the drivers side. actually, it was a hit and run....but i was hit hard enough that my car spun 180 degree (is that when you're spun to put you in the opposite direction you were going? LOL), tires screeching then i came to an abrupt stop. i was hit hard enough that the other driver's bumper was embedded into the side of my car. i couldn't get the driver's side doors to open and drivers window was broken.

my question is, how hard do you have to be hit for the side air bags to deploy?

i can't believe i didn't get hurt. oh, btw, the license plate was attached to the bumper embedded in side of my car.

Not sure about any figures for the airbags. But did the driver get arrested? Glad to hear that you weren't hurt. Did you go in to see if anything looks out of place reasonably as a result of the impact? Might help establish a cause for any future medical needs!

But, dang! Hit so hard it tore their bumper off and they drove away!

Yep, doing a 180 means being spun around and heading the opposite direction. Were you to have done a 360 you would have done a complete circle.
