About ready to get a preleased on from a friend, with 25000 miles. It's a 4 cyl with sunroof, 17 rims etc etc. I'm going to buy it for 13300 $, the price is very good but what I need to know is, is the 4 cycl model a good buy. The car is for the wife, I like the looks etc but need some feedback on the four cycl? Anyone give me some feedback??

depends on how you define your "good buy". But I love my 08 2LT. Bought it 2 years and a half ago and still enjoy driving it to work every day. It gives me more power than I need (I came from a Civic). I actually want it less power so I can save some gas.. I got 23 MPG average with 50/50 city/hwy driving.
Got 2 issues so far but dealer fixed promptly without any hassle.

The four cylinder is a very well put together engine that has been around for a decent amount of time. The newer versions of it are just as reliable. I haven't had any issues with mine and maintenance is simple on them. No power steering fluid to take care of and easy access to the oil filter. Mine has 63K on it and runs just fine. Some say it is underpowered for the car, I personally find it to fit my driving so I like it. There isn't too many issues know to happen with them either which is nice.

Actually, I don't believe there are many differences except the 08' has front fender turn signals. Also, I believe 08' didn't have the option for the six speed transmission for the four cylinder, only four speed.

And only the '08 had the option for moveable pedals.

I don't understand why they had that feature. If you can move your chair, why you need to move your pedal?
That was probably why they removed it from later models.

Different body styles have different length legs. Females (generally) have longer legs than guys for the same height body.

Just seems weird to put it on one model year and then delete it.

It's a solid reliable motor. Sounds loud and unrefined, and could use some more oomph when going up a highway hill (you gotta get the RPM's real high, then you get a loud whiff of that lovely 4-banger buzzer). MPG's are okay but not incredible, It gets the job done though, and I'm sure it's super solid.

I like the Ecotec 4 engine (although my Malibu has the 3.6 V6). It has a lot of power and is extremely smooth. I completely disagree with "loud and unrefined" as a description. This is the best mass-market / non-luxury 4 cylinder engine I've driven. You want loud and unrefined - try any 4 banger from the 1980s from any manufacturer - tons of noise and vibrations with very weak power - nothing at all like the Ecotec.

No, a 4 cylinder engoine will never soumd like a 6 or an 8 - but these engines are very good.
