So I am on the road a lot for work and have noticed a "problem" with the way my car shifts sometimes, this is an intermittent problem that is more apparent when driving in town, stop and go.

Sometimes when I hit the gas to accelerate, the car seems like it doesn't know if it should drop into passing gear or just stay in gear and speed up. Watching the tachometer it looks like i'm giving gas and letting off repeatedly, eventually the car decides and I move on. Also I feel like the car shifts too hard for a "newer" car. I bought it with 21k and it has 35ish now. I have been to the dealer and they can't find anything, no dash lights are on, but it makes me sick to think that I'm still paying for a car that has a transmission or electronic problem that the dealer can't find.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum.:) What you are describing sounds like the transmission is shifting back and forth right at the threshold where the operator demand can be met with multiple combinations of gear ratio and engine RPM. It certainly is annoying but I don't think it represents a worrisome mechanical problem, especially in light of the 5/100 powertrain warranty. You may want to disconnect the battery to wipe clean the leaned parameters and see if the default settings are any better. Also, some 2008 had a RCDLR problem (TPMS and/or key fob unresponsive) that only shows up after a power outage. If yours is one, it's a good time to find out while the warranty is in effect.

Thanks, i'll give that a try, and I had a problem with the key fob right after I bought it and they replaced it, but I'll keep an eye on it.

Thanks again.
