My 2009 LT came with 215/55 17 Firestone tires . What was the other size tires that the Malibu LT 's came with in 09. Although I only have a little over 12000 miles on the car now I am curious what type of tires you guys have you guys been buying when you have needed to replace them and what ones are giving you the best wear.

I don't know what mine came with originally as I bought it used. Right now it has 225/50 18 Goodyear Eagles. Obviously I have the 18" rims while you have the 17's... but as far as the tire itself goes I haven't had any problems. Got about 3000 miles on them now and they're doing fine.

Mine came with 225/50R18 Goodyear Eagles LS2 tires. They suck, so when I go to replace them I'm getting some good ones.

In know mine is an 08 but the OEM tires have been really good to me. 225/50 R17, Hankook Optimo H725A. I got a screw in one the 6th and took it to get repaired on the 7th. The guy at Discount tire was really impressed with the tread life on them. He told me that when new the tires have 10/32s of tread, mine were at 8/32s after 32K and that they would easily last me another 30K, maybe 40K. I love the wet traction of the tires, and the ride is smooth and really quiet as well.

What about going from the 215/55/17 to a 235/50/17? The overall tire diameter is very close, 26.31 vs 26.25, so speedo would not be off much. Would this tire fit on the same rim? Looking for a fatter looking tire, more meat!
