I bought a 2010 Malibu from a dealership about a month ago, and when I hit the on star button to connect to bluetooth, the onstar responds “pardon? You can say things like.. phone..bluetooth..” etc. It recognizes all other commands that i have tried but when I say bluetooth it has a hard time understanding me. I called customer service and they were as stuck as I was. It’s preventing me from connecting my phone in the first place to experience the hands free feature of the car. I saw an earlier post in ‘09 resolving this same issue but the youtube video left on the post is no longer available. Just posting to see if I could circle back and get this issue resolved again????
Here’s the older post for reference

One thing that might be slowing you down from connecting to BT is if there are already a number of phone numbers paired. Remove them all and yours will pair faster.

Don't use On* button to pair. Use the large button on the RH steering wheel controls. Hold it in for about 5 seconds, then say Bluetooth.

Okay. I will try to unpair the devices. Also, I am using the button on the steering wheel to access bluetooth, sorry if I wasn’t clear.

OK, that's definitely more clear. The On* button is on the mirror.

After saying "Bluetooth", say "Help" and you will hear a list of commands you can use.

Right so, when I say the command for bluetooth. It’s the only command not understood. I tried saying it slowly, fast, etc. But I will remove the devices and see if there are any changes.

When you hold the button for several seconds and let go, do you hear a voice say, "Ready"? If not, then do one more test. Turn the stock radio on and use the Vol + and Vol - keys and see if the volume changes. If not, then you may have a 1LT with a different steering wheel that what came stock.

The best way to find out is to use a free VIN decoder and it should be able to tell you the features that your car was built with. I had a 2009 2LT and it had BT. Just saying it's an "LT" doesn't necessarily mean that it has BT.

I definitely do have BT. And the voice command does say “ready” and “say a command” when I press it.

See if your personalization language has been changed.

Hold both lower buttons on the left SWC for several seconds, then let go.
