Hello all. First post, please be gentle.

I got a decent deal on a leftover LT2 and I am supposed to pick it up tonight. While looking at the car, I realized that it had Hankook Optimo tires and Chrometech wheels.

My last 3 cars (all GM) had Goodyears and I was able to get more than 50,000 miles from all of them. I noticed an LTZ on the lot had Goodyears, but the LT2 leftover has Hankook.

I read a few reviews of them and they sound iffy. Can any of you Malibu pros steer me in the right direction? Should I hold off or are these tires OK and standard for this car?

I am also not too sure about those Chrometechs. I read they are crappy too. Of course for everyone who hates them, someone finds them great.

Thanks for any guidance.

I have those on my 08, and so far they have been great to me. The tread wear is very good, going to hit the 36K mark next month and the tires are still good. Matter of fact I went out to Discount tire earlier this week to have them repair one with a nail in it. The guy offered me the certificates on the whole set, I was very surprised that they would do that on a set of tires with that many miles and 2.5 years on them. The guy said they are wearing very well and are in great condition so it was a go.

In a nutshell.......
Tread life....excellent
Handling......great
Noise.....nonexistant
Ride....smooth

I've got just over 27k on mine, and very happy with them. I am kinda torn over this, though. I've got a set of 18" wheels in the garage just waiting for the day when I need new tires...

I have the 18" Goodyear Eagle LS2 tires. They don't totally suck, but they'd never be a choice I'd make with my wallet.

Like Silver says, don't let your glued-on chromed plastic that sticks out past the tire get scratched!

Well, I have a '10 LTZ with the Goodyears & 22k on the car... can't say I'm overwhelmed with their ride quality over even minor bumps. I'm not into Flintstonemobiles.

The Hankook Optimos, on the other hand, seem to review well with their owners. I've read several comments about their improved ride quality and handling, enough that I'm going to check them out closely when I get new tires.

Good luck with the LT2. I've seen some nice ones lately.

I picked up my LT2 tonight. It is black with the chrome wheels. WOW, there is nothing as gorgeous as a brand new car.

I bought the 5 year warranty on the tires and wheels. It is worth it for the piece of mind.

Hey, congrats & enjoy!

Post a pic when you get a chance. One of the sharpest Malibus I've seen was a black, freshly polished LT that pulled up in front of a busy restaurant a few months ago. It certainly turned more than a few heads!
