Hi all,

Thanks for letting me lurk - I have searched and read posts regarding my questions, but I still have some questions if I may....

I just bought my 2010 Malibu LT. It was a rental car. I was under the impression it had on-star, xm and bluetooth - It has the phone button on the steering wheel.

I can't seem to access any of this. Does it have these options? There is no satellite antenna on the roof, and the rear view mirror is basic, no buttons.

Can this system be paired with my iphone?

My other question is, it only came with a key - Where is a good source for getting a faub?

Thanks for your time! I love this car, just hopping to work out this detail.

hi there, i hate to be the bearer of bad news but if your mirror has no buttons then you do not have those options.

if you test drove one with all those options and were planning on getting them (which i thought are standard on the LT) you should talk to your sales rep. OnStar is free for one year upon purchase if the service is available. your rep would have went over it with you and explained how to use it.

XM is free for 3 months and it is in your stereo. There should be an XM button on your stereo that will initiate it. your rep would have explained it to you.

i am can't believe that it doesn't have a faub. that is weird.

Most rentals don't include XM or OnStar. If you don't have a fob then you may want to check with GM to see if it came with them or not. All new GM cars come with 2 keys and, if equipped with RKE (remote keyless entry), 2 fobs. If all you got was 1 key go back to the dealer and ask firmly for a second key at their expense. Adding a second key with only 1 working is not cheap. They have transponders in them and won't work unless programmed.

If GM says it came with fobs then you're kinda up a creek without a paddle there. The seller isn't required to give you any, even if he has them. Good sense and decency would make a person want to include them with a sale, but we're talking sales people here!

When you find out about the fobs, ask also about BT (bluetooth) in your car. If it has it you may need to get it reflashed (reprogrammed) because sometimes it "forgets" how to make it work right. (I think Microsoft has been helping GM program things! ;))

See if you have an owner's manual, too. It'll help a lot with the instructions for these options.

Oh, almost forgot - Welcome to the site! :)

thanks all!

well, i bought the car at a manheim auto auction, so there is no sales person involved.

it's a 2010 LT, 33,000 miles for 13k. so i guess i can live with it if it does not have bt and xm, but i was hoping it did have.

is it normal for some of the mali's to come with the button on the steering wheel, but not the bt option?

My bluetooth didnt need any type of programing on the car. just turned on my phone and searched. it found the car and just entered the code. I know there were some when i bought mine with the steering wheel controls and no onstar so may not have that option..

I think the button on the steering wheel is on all the cars and if you don't have other features like BT then the button only mutes the radio.

GM only gives OnStar free for 6 months now.

If you want a BT system, I installed one on my car. Its made by parrot, and with the wiring harness it was basically plug and play. Only need to hook one power wire to a keyed source.

It sounds like you have a fleet trim model, I know OnStar and XM are delete options at that trim level. I am not certain if the key fobs are also a delete option.

Take a look at the Service Parts Identification Label attached to the inside of the glove box door.

I am sure you will find these codes
U2J - XM Radio Delete
UE0 - OnStar Delete

Look for codes AP3 or AP8 if you don't have one of these there would not be any key fobs since the vehicle would not have remote entry or remote start.

I know these codes are specific for 2009 models but I am fairly sure they are common to all of the current Malibu's
