For a week I couldn’t start my Chevy malibu, until I replaced both the intake and exhaust vvt solenoids, that’s when I noticed that the intake exhaust solenoid’s connector wire was broken. Autozone wouldn’t have had another connector in stock for 2 weeks, so I tried to drive it for short errands until I could get a replacement connector. I was driving and I started hearing a knocking sound, eventually I saw smoke for 3 seconds and then my car died. The battery was still on and I could put it in neutral, but after I saw the smoke it won’t even crank or start anymore.
I came here to ask for advice, because I’m hoping O could just replace a specific part (whatever was burning) and have it start up again, but 1 person I asked was saying that I would probably need to replace the whole engine
