Hi everyone!
First post here, so here goes.
My wife's 2013 Malibu LTZ had a cooling system leak that it went into the shop for. I had a good trusted mechanic friend handle the job as I just didn't have the time to tackle the job myself. He replaced the water pump, thermostat, belt and flushed the cooling system and refilled with Dexcool. I trust his work, and I looked at everything when I picked up the car.
A few minutes after leaving the shop, a single DTC popped up P0597. I didn't have time to really look at it, but the car drove fine. I brought it back the next day and we came to the conclusion that it was probably a bad part from the parts house that was causing the issue as all the plugs were in good shape. The thermostat was replaced again.
A day later, I picked up the car, and same code popped up. This time, I have time to tackle the problem myself. The issue is, that I've looked at all the possible problems, and am left scratching my head.
I cannot believe that I would have received 2 problematic thermostats in a row from the parts store. I checked fuse 47 under the hood, and it's still ok. It's not blown.
There isn't a problem with power or acceleration, and the temp gauge is working (although only sits around 1/4. Did this before this problem happened) I'm at a loss as to what is causing the issue.
Any chance someone has seen this happen? What am I missing? Should I just pull the thermostat AGAIN and get an AC Delco unit instead of an aftermarket one?
thanks for your help!
