I took my car to a repair shop to have my AC compressor checked and was told that it needed to be replaced. In order to replace it, the front of the car will have to be removed. I have never heard of that. Is that a true statement?

Not the front of the car but the inner fender liner will have to come out. Time for a different shop.
Thanks repairman54. Although it may have been much easier to take out the fender liner, my son and I was able to remove the thermostat housing and work the compressor out from the top. This was a hell of a job and wish I had read your response prior to taking on this task. It's fixed and I have cool air again. Thanks again!
