Hello everyone I really need help too figure out what’s wrong with my car. I have a 2014 Chevy Malibu LT 2.5L it has an issue where the stop/start kicks in when I sometimes stop it shakes most of the the time but every one In awhile the stop/start kicks in but won’t turn the car back on. After it turns off completely I try cranking the car back on but it just struggles to turn over I would have to press the gas to give it power too turn on. The Malibu has 120k currently I bought with 89k miles I don’t think the previous owner changed the spark plugs but I also think it might be the starter. Please help

Hello.

I'd change spark plugs since it is idling rough and past due. Both battery ages should also be checked and replaced as maintenance if original. Mix in a scan for fault codes also - all 4 code families. If there is a code it might point to the dual battery control module but I'd start with maintenance first.
@campb292 suggestion re reading codes is probably the best thing you can do here, but I had a very similar problem with my 2013 LTZ when coming to a stop, the idle would get very rough and often stall. When it didn't stall, upon restarting from stop, lots of hesitation and rough idle. In my situation it turned out to be the VVT's. And if your previous owner was not good a changing spark plugs and general maintenance, I'm assuming they were not good at keeping up with their oil changes - a sure fire way to ruin your VVT's. They're a pretty easy driveway repair. Procedure and video here. But again, getting your codes read is your best next move.

Thank you for the help I’ll be changing the spark plugs soon I also had the main battery changed when it first started happening but it didn’t fix the problem and they also checked the smaller one and told me it was good. I did change one of the solenoids also at the same time as the battery and now I have the check engine light on again that I got checked and it’s the other solenoid now that’s bad. I’ll keep it updated once I do all the maintenance. Thanks again.
I should have mentioned, only one of mine was bad, but I changed them both thinking if one went, the other couldn't be far behind.
Make sure you use ACDelco solenoids. The cheap aftermarket ones fail quickly and sometimes never fix the problem at all.

If you can't figure out the start/stop issue, there is a company called Trifecta Performance that will eliminate the start/stop system for around $100.
