Hi again,

I want you ask about transmission fluid change.
In manual it says should change your fluid every 42K miles on severe.
So i should change transmission fluid? (Mine is on 45k miles)
Also Do you change transmission oil filter on first fluid change?

And what happens if you do not change transmission fluid for long time?

Thank you

Yes, change the fluid. A drain and fill is really easy to DIY. There is a guide in the DIY section if interested.

You cannot change the filter. It can only be changed in a rebuild.

I'll second that changing fluid every 45k miles is a must if you want to minimize any transmission issues.
I drove my '09 Malibu to 190k miles on the original transmission with zero issues and sold the car running fine by doing the fluid changes every 45k miles.

This post encouraged me to get up and follow the DIY thoroughly. I'm currently at 65k miles and this would be my car's first transmission fluid change. I was wondering about the transmission filter, however, like @campb292 mentioned it can be done in a rebuild. My local transmission shop is asking for $115 to do the fluid change and filter change (which I doubt they would).
