I am having some problems with my Malibu it is throwing two codes P0299 and P2227. The car seems to be in limp mode where the acceleration is slow and the car won't go above 3800-4000 RPM. The P2227 code says it is the barometric sensor after calling two dealerships they said that there are no BARO sensors coming up for this vehicle. Is the BARO sensor incorporated into the Mass airflow sensor or MAP sensor? Checked the air filter and it is a little dirty but I don't think is causing this.
Looking for a fix if anyone has any suggestions it is greatly appreciated thank you.

I recently learned there are two MAP sensors on this car. One next to (after) the throttle body and the other much more hidden by the charge air cooler outlet down under the battery/behind the bumper. The MAP under the battery by the charge air cooler is the turbo boost/pressure sensor. There isn't a separate baro sensor that I am aware of.

This could be a sensor issue but P0299 is often caused by ice in the charge air cooler or downline obstructing airflow. More recently discovered, it can also be condensate frozen up in the Turbocharger Wastegate Regulator Solenoid Valve. I notice a Canada flag in your profile so cold is a high indicator here.

Two bulletins, one with P0299 and P2227 matching your situation exactly and another with P0299.

There is also a new program coming, N222372590. I just got this in my account but it isn't linkable yet. This could be an important service update and might even be a free correction. Waiting to see.

Yes, this check engine light came on as I was driving for around 3 hours in colder weather earlier in December. This could be the problem I will look more into this is there a way to check for buildup?

The car needs to be in a warm space to melt the ice. If you melt the ice and the code disappears and performance returns to normal it means it was indeed ice. Usually you can do this and just return to normal driving after warming it up. If it keeps happening after thaw you need to remove the water. It can be as simple as unhooking the charge air outlet pipe. I am not aware if there is a lower drain point. Before moving beyond just a thaw I'd check the boost pressure sensor as shown in the 18-NA-069 bulletin. I'd follow with the TCV in bulletin PIP5812C. One thing I wouldn't do is jump to replacing the charge air cooler. It is expensive and hasn't been a cure all for those that have tried it. I am betting seeing the same issue with the "new" charge air cooler they traced it down to the Turbocharger Wastegate Regulator Solenoid Valve and that is why we see the new bulletin.

Of course if you don't know how to do any of this you need a dealer or mechanic. If you don't have a warmer place such as a garage thawing is difficult so the shop comes into play.

I have a ? I don't have a garage so If I just leave it outside running will that melt any ice
It might depending on outside temp. It will help if the car is driven a little then idled. Also park so the front isn't pointed into the wind. Worst case... late this week much of the USA will be in a heat wave!
