So if it's not one thing it's another....soon as one thing is fixed expensively something else screws up. Last week I noticed my gear shift was stuck or whatever so I get out car malibu ls 2017 do some shopping get ready to leave of course I know to press my brake then put in reverse or drive. I am pressing my brake and low and behold the dang gear won't budge I'm steady pressing the brake and nothing so I sit there maybe 5 mins pressing brake trying to get the gear thingy mahjigga to go in reverse and nothing I switch car off back on nothing. I then press the brake as far to the floor as it can go I'm short so I'm literally off my seat and boom it goes into reverse. I called dealership they say they can check for codes and that hopefully it's not the engine or transmission but they are backed up so I can bring car in but would have to leave it. I can't leave my only transportation anyone else experienced this or have any idea what's going on and like I told the guy on the phone at dealership there are no warning lights on dash.

It would be good for you to find the emergency bypass for the BTSI (brake-transmission shift interlock), which is what allows you to shift out of Park.

If you can press the brake enough to stop the vehicle, then you won't need to jam them to the floor to get it to shift normally, unless something is jammed or broken. If so, then a repair is likely, but it will most likely be a small part inside the cabin and not on or in the transmission. That means it'll be a much less expensive fix than what they may be leading you to by saying "hopefully it's not the engine or transmission".
