I am having the following issues with my 2018 Malibu:
  • Sunroof and overhead console lights do not work
  • Fog light on left side of car does not come on during daylight hours but will come on with headlights
  • Intermittent Steering Assist reduced warning comes on when stopped at a light and engine shuts off
Anyone else have these issues and have had them diagnosed and repaired? Thank you.

I haven't read of the sunroof and overheat lights suddenly going out. For that one I would start by checking fuse 21 in the underhood fuse box. Should be a 30A fuse I think.

For the fog light you mean the LED daytime running lamp (DRL), correct?

The intermittent steering assist reduced message during an auto stop is usually a first indicator of a battery that is on the way out. That would be right on schedule for a 2018 being 5 years.

Bummer it wasn't the fuse. That would have been a super easy solution since the overhead and sunroof are on the same circuit. Hopefully it isn't a chewed wire as that can be tough to chase down. For the DRL I don't know. I haven't read of just one going out during the day but then working at night. Normally I'd suspect the ambient light sensor if it was both but one doesn't compute for me. Could lead to a potentially chewed or loose wire again. Maybe a loose ground. As for the battery, it's a downer but the tests aren't very useful. They don't simulate the car having all the electronics on then engine turning off to run on only the battery before firing the starter again. Good luck, I hope you find the help you need.
