Hello. I’ve got approximately 23,000 miles on this. Change oil warming just came on. It’s otherwise running fine.
Last night I noticed a ticking noise from the engine. At least I think it’s the engine. It coincides with changing RPM’s.

I know I can betting it to the dealer for warranty but just wanted to see what you guys think.

Ticking is a common noise from engines with direct injection.

I forget sometimes that the Malibu's are GDI because they barely have the ticking sound. In idle I only hear the turbo whistling lol, the only time the ticking is audible to me is when the hood is up and open and it’s still a really silent tick. Compare it to the Honda, Kia/Hyundai, Ford, Toyota GDI engines you’d think that it was Port Injected. But yes, the GDI high pressure pump and injectors do have loud ticking noises.
