So we are being told that every 30,000 miles we need to replace the fuel injector, has anyone heard this? The car gave the traction control light about 3 months ago. We brought it to the dealer as it’s still under warranty. Supposedly that was fixed but they tried to charge us 295 so it wouldn’t happen again which didn’t make sense and we said we weren’t going to pay for something that should be covered. Here we are 3 months later the light came back on. Now there saying it’s the fuel injector and it needs to be replaced every 30,000 miles. Which seems crazy to me with a new car. Anyone with any insight here?

Two different things here:

Fuel injectors do not need to be replaced every 30,000 miles. Injectors are not part of routine maintenance under the normal maintenance schedule or even severe schedule.

Fuel injector(s) can fail (usually clog, leak, or mechanical failure). It is rare but it can happen. I don't recall anything about fuel injector failure on either the 1.5T or 2.0T on this forum. Was it an injector that failed 30,000 miles ago under warranty and was replaced? What was the $295 charge trying to sell? Do you know what fault code the car is currently giving? The fault code would look like P0301 or P0202 or P0174 or something similar.

EDIT: I did just search the gen9 section for previous injector issues and found 2 examples of single injector replacement.

Thank you for your response!! Both times it has been the traction control sensor going off that’s prompted us to bring it in. I will check to see if I find out what the fault code that it was giving. Currently the car is still under warranty ( first 100,000) the first time we were told the sensor was replaced and that’s when the mechanic tried the “pay $295 so it doesn’t happen again” thing. Today we spoke to a manger and according to him the mechanic just explained it wrong and was suggesting we get the fuel injector replaced then (which also seems crazy to me since it’s a new car) the manager today is who said it needs to be replaced every 30,000 miles. I still don’t see how that’s right a new car that’s taken care of and get oil changes ect shouldn’t be having to replace that so often and you would think that would be covered under the warranty as well. I kind of feel like they are bsing us and not fixing the issue.

Get the current code. You might also look at your previous paperwork and let us know the code from that incident and what sensor was replaced. Perhaps a picture of the paperwork if easier. Also need to know current mileage. Sometimes communication is the root of the problems. Be clear, thorough, and details matter.

Just an update, my husband took the car to a different Chevy dealership (one we didn’t purchase directly from) and they are checking to see what the issue is but they seem to think it’s possibly a misfire and that whatever the issue is should be covered under the warranty especially if it was supposedly “fixed” the first time we brought it in. But they will let us know tomorrow for sure. He also said no there’s nothing we should be replacing every 30,000 miles as we suspected. I’m also guessing whatever the original place was trying to do was not anything that was actually needed but trying to sell they also admitted that the first time they only “cleared the code” which took them 4 days to do. I’ll update once we hear back from the new place.
