97 Malibu Problems.

Ok guys here it is. I have a 97 Malibu and whenever it is idling and its at about 600 RPM and I push on the gas it hesitates just a little bit and then the RPM drop down to about 300 and then it revs up. Now the check engine light is on I took it to autozone and they checked the code and said its the Cam sensor. could this be the problem or do you thing its something else?
