Hi all, I've got an 08 1LT with only 16k miles. I am the original owner. Strange thing, after coming home from work a few times this summer, parking in the garage, closing the door and coming inside, I go out later (maybe 10 to 30 minutes) and the AC fan is running on my Malibu. Not the radiator fan, the interior blowing out the vents fan. Is this normal for sumertime and heat or am I having some electrical issue. I know there is someone out there smarter than me, so, thanks in advance.

What? The fan inside the cabin should not run when the key is out of the ignition.

I have read your post and I understand how frustrating this situation must be with your 2008 Chevrolet Malibu.

I have to agree with RaineMan. Your AC fan in the cabin of your vehicle should not be running after you turn off your vehicle and take the key out of the ignition.

From the information that you have already provided on your post, it looks like you are still within your warranty limits on age and mileage. I would be happy to confirm your warranty information if you would like to private message me your vehicle identification number (VIN). I recommend getting your vehicle into the dealership to have the issue that you have described diagnosed.

The blower running by itself is normal if the car is programmed with this function turned on.The dearler can turn this function on or off with their scanner. It helps dry the evaporator off in high humidity areas of the country to help keep the musty smell from the AC getting too bad...

An interesting theory. I lived in North Carolina for 26 years, I would consider that a "high humidity area". I had several cars... some of them kept the radiator fans running after the car was off to cool the engine, but none of them would run the blower.

Bottom line, I've never seen or heard of air coming out of the dash vents when the key is out of the switch.

Though in the OP's case it has to be stopping after some period of time. I imagine the blower fan running all day and night would kill the battery.
