Hey guys,

So yesterday I got my oil change and air fiter changed at my Local Pep Boys,

And now I noticed that when I gave it a little gas the engine sounded louder ( almost like I have some kind of dual exhaust or something) anyways when I really have to accelerate it is really loud. I have never heard my engine like that before its kind of a mind trip. I know the car is really quiet but this is noticeable to me and may not be as noticeable to anyone else.

Also this was the first time i actually waited till my oil level was at about 44% before I got the oil change done.

Could it just be the car adjusting to fresh oil?

I called pep boys back and complained to the manager and im taking it in first thing in the morning.

Should i take it back to them(pep boys) or go straight to the dealer to avoid further damage just to be safe?

It only has 15,400miles on it.

Let me know what you guys think... thanks!

1st, check the oil level before you start it.
2nd, make sure the air filter box cover is installed correctly. It can be difficult for lube monkeys to get it right.

New air filter at 15K miles was due, so more air may just sound louder because it can finally breathe. Might not be an issue.

and 3rd, NEVER take your car to Pep Boys!!!!!

Or Jiffy Lube, etc... I have heard nothing but horror stories about those places. I will be taking my car to the Chevy dealer during warranty. At least if something is screwed up at the dealer, I have records to prove it, and then GM will have to fix it.

Good luck!

My favorite Pep Boys story was I was in a pinch in an old car I had -- and a stud broke off the hub. I stopped in since it was on the way to my area to get a quote (I'd rather not take local roads all the way back, nor get on the highway with only 4 bolts holding on my wheel.

They had no idea how to do it -- so they quoted me $200 flat. If it took more labor they were willing to eat the cost. WOW what a deal.

I drove the rest of the way and checked tightness every 10 miles or so. My local shop put 5 new studs on that hub "just in case they all got damaged from the same unknown impact", and gave me 20 brand new lugnuts all the way around since they wouldn't match otherwise. $90.

I wouldnt have worried so much about the one broken stud. You can easily ride safely with one missing or at least get home safely.

I agree that no one should EVER go to Pepboys, Jiffy Lube, ect. The people working there went from flipping burgers to working on cars.
I got home safely without any repairs. Please refer to my above post again if it was too confusing the first time.

Ishrios,

I have read your post about your vehicle after getting your oil changed at your local Pep Boys. I see that you have written that you are taking it back into Pep Boys this morning.

I also recommend that you get your 2010 Chevrolet Malibu into your local dealership just to make sure that everything is ok.
