I have a 2012 Malibu Ls, and I wanted to swap out my alternator from my 2.4cl for a higher output alternator, generally the one from the V6 LTZ, is it plug and play?? If you were wondering why, it’s for my ????

My 3.6L uses one rated at 125 amps. Rock Auto has that plus a 150A version.

Your 2.4L uses one rated at either 125 or 130 amps. RA has both of those, too.

I'm not sure where to get one that has higher output.

Older cars used to have 50-60A alternators, and the "high output" ones available back there were 115A, so nowadays the standard alternator is already HO. You'll likely need the services of a specialty store. Try an automotive speaker seller. I'm sure they can source whatever you want, and more.

Thanks and mines is rated at 120amps and the v6 is 150amps well that’s what I am looking for..

And yes I know I won’t be able to find out for my car unless I get it custom made for me, but the one on the Ltz model is 30amps for an should be all the power I would need

I am adding a extra battery and I just want a little wiggle room, and don't want to stress out the one I already have which is 120amps and the ltz alternator is 150amps more than enough power... Is it plug an play??
