Hello I have a 08 chevy malibu 3.6v I'm having troubles with getting the belt off to replace the alternator I put a 3/8 breaker bar into the pulley but it's way to loose so I tried a 1/2 breaker bar but it's to big won't fit in the whole any idea's

Do you mean that you're trying to lift the pressure off by moving the tensioner? If so, then it's either 3/8" or 1/2" drive, and it's on the arm, not the pulley.
