...the first and longest running 1 of 2 we had has been traded away, this Monday. Had the '08 2LT 4-cyl for 23 months--would have been a full 2 years this coming January--but my mother got a twinkle in her eye and wanted something new. Loved the Malibu, never had a problem with the Malibu, and it served extremely well and was highly impressive from a quality, refinement, and style perspective.

Lacked power for us & the efficiency it should have had for a 4-cyl sedan with the 4-spd, however, and that was always our main complaint. Silky, soothing car, and if a 6-spd would have been better, but still a little lacking. Thought about a new V6 Malibu for a bit, but she wanted something entirely different if going new...

That said, what replaced it? Another Chevy. A new '10 Camaro 2LT RS with the DI 3.6L & 6-spd auto. Huge change, though still a Chevy--of course--and exactly the combo she wanted and dreamed of having. With older kids and a fleet of cars as it is, my mother finally wanted the fun new sports car she loved seeing on the road and had to have "POWER!" She got it, and has been in love for 2 days now. Miss the refinement and package of the Malibu, but this is a whole new world of smiles. Went from 2 Malibu's to now a G8 GT and a Camaro, 2 cousins again on the same platform, but as different as they are similar.

I shall remain around, a long time Malibu fan into the time of the all new 'Bu coming before too long...even without anymore in the driveway. Great car;)

Great choice of a car. I love the feel of the new Camaro.

I cant wait for the new Malibu to surface as well.
If I wanted a sedan of this size, I still wouldn't hesitate to go with the current Malibu. Great, great car. Go from a 2LT 4-cyl to a V6 Camaro with 20" wheels? Yeah, now there's a difference...:D

Unexpected fact. The Malibu had the shortest lifespan with us, of all vehicles. Well, aside from my '09 that I traded after 4 months for a G8;)

Our Malibu might be done in the next few months as well. Want more "room" and the Terrain and Equinox are starting to stay on the lots a little bit longer so just waiting on a good deal for the most part.

Good move with any new GM, for sure;)

Mom loves the Camaro and after she went to lunch with my father this week in it and he saw people literally crawling under it, etc. he likes it too, 20" wheels and all. It's great. A Malibu wouldn't be bad to still have around, but the main issue was simply the lack of power and fuel economy far under what a car that size with a great 4-cyl should be getting--the 4-spd just wouldn't let it do anything but rev to the heavens all the time. Otherwise, was fabulous. And we'd all highly, highly recommend still.

I had my '09 2LT for such a short time, I don't remember a thing about it. How it rode, how it sounded, etc., yet the '08 is stuck in my memory in all good ways even after I myself moved on to the G8. Nice car, really nice. And driving on a longer trip Monday to go Camaro shopping, taking mom around to where there were cars that matched, I really was impressed by it again at 22k and almost 2 years. It moved well...still eerily quiet, still extremely smooth and supple, still tight as a drum and rattle/noise free over anything and everything. A very well done early Fairfax car, for sure. Hope the next owner enjoys it as much as we all did.

The Camaro is a different beast all together, as was my G8. 2 Epsilons to 2 Zetas...somehow we really always do things in pairs with cars;)

All GM cars now come with the compressor. If you want a spare, it's an option, even on Caddys. Sucks, doesn't it?
Correct. Inflator/sealant standard, compact spare & jack optional only on V6 models--the mini spare won't fit over the SS's Brembo brakes, so it can only come with the sealant.

Unlike my G8 GT, which was the same way, however, a full size spare won't fit--the mini spare barely does in the Camaro's trunk floor. Mom's Camaro is lacking the spare option, alas, but I'm ordering the pieces for it.

Didn't mean to hijack this thread but isn't that just dandy? One reason I got rid of my G8 GT for a Malibu. The '08 LTZ has one.
Not a big reason to me. It's even optional in '10 Malibu's now. Just how it is.

And it was so easy to get a full jack kit and then also a full size matching wheel & tire for my G8 GT for not much, well worth it in the end to me for better than what would have been OEM in the first place. Very different cars, and I still appreciate Malibu's interior style and general refinement, but we'd never go back. We'd buy another Malibu to have, but not in place of either of these now.

Different strokes for different folks;)

Thats why we are members of AAA. Free tow to get a flat fixed. :D
That silver isnt bad but the cyber gray is awesome.
Agreed. Actually quoted on an identically equipped Cyber Gray at the same dealer, but it sold the week before. Then saw this one arrive online and happen to be delivered that very morning, and she liked the color even more--it really sets this car off, especially with the polished wheels. Looks simply hot in better lighting, than my cloudy day pics and after a Dark Gray Malibu we liked, Cyber Gray was a little too dark and her #2. Now she has the perfect vehicle from color to model to options, which is great.

She also wanted the twin stripes too, hood & trunk, but has since decided since this car didn't have them, she likes the clean look better instead. Nice choice, I say.

We traded my 09 4 cyl LT1 off on a 2010 Camaro and kept our 08 LTZ. My only regret with that trade was I gave up 47mpg and went to 37mpg. I commute 195km's per day so I'm sure will add up. I find it ironic that the Camaro is rated for 41mpg and the LTZ is rated for 36mpg. The Camaro is a sweet car, had it for 2 weeks and blew a power steering hose and have had to wait a week and a half to get it back (must be making the hose). Needless to say I haven't even had the car home long enough to take pictures. They will be coming soon.

Mom's car, so no mods. Especially not, uh, to the level of my G8;)

Just weathertech mats, GM trunk mat & net, etc. Those type of things. She doesn't understand why you'd do anything else on a new car, and that's fine.

Sweet car...I wish those wells fit the 'Bu!!
Hah...they are quite nice...all the more reason why she had to have the RS package, even though she had no idea what it was beyond the "big wheels";)
