I keep bumping my thigh getting into my '09 LTZ. I've tried different seat adjustments and that hasn't helped. I keep hitting that bumpout that's between the front door and rear door that makes the contour of the door molding make sense when the front door is closed. I love my LTZ except for what seems like an interior design flaw...

How do you guys have your seat positioned? I like mine back and low with no problems hitting anything, only problem I have is getting out of the seat, my creeky old bones ain't what they used to be :D

This is one of the hardest cars for me to get into or out of I've ever used, whether I owned it or was just a passenger. The last one that would take second place was the early 70's 4-door Ford Torino. The back door was so small, and the car was bigger than the 'Bu!

However, if I move the steering wheel up and forward it gets easier, but I'm still lifting myself up to get out.

My seat: I've played around with low-slung in an effort to get the lowest CG, and I've lifted it to the point where I'm nearly scraping the roof with my head. Getting out with it higher is quite a bit easier, but I run the risk of bumping my head getting in or out, 'cause the seat keeps me from being able to dip my head low enough.

And I'm 5'6", so it shouldn't take a freakin' barn door to make it easy, eh? I think in an effort to make this such a safe car they made the safety cage openings smaller to keep them stronger, but something had to give.

The thing that bothers me is the stupid tilt steering column. GM has converted over to the crappy design used in all of the ricers. On my Tahoe and Corvette the steering column pivots at the front of the instrument panel so the steering wheel can actually move higher. With those 2 cars I can hit the button and the steering wheel pops out of the way to allow me to swing my legs out. The Malibu column pivots somewhere in front of the instrument panel with the whole column moving instead of just the steering wheel. This prevents the steering wheel from going up very far. Even though I am 5'10" and my wife is 5'6" we leave the wheel positioned at the top of its travel and we still hit the tops of our thighs getting into and out of the car. I paid for a tilt wheel but do not have one since it doesn't go high enough. Before I retired I traveled a lot for business and drove a lot of Toy, Honda and Nissan rental cars and they all had that annoying column design. Too bad GM had to copy it.

I don't really hit it, but it sticks out so it's gotten scratched up. Which it shouldn't have. I had the seat all the way back, as I am 6-1 and over 200 pounds. Even the wife has commented since she has had it, "why does that stick out?"
