Only thing on that list for our cars is the very top one. Unfortunately it is not an air intake, it looks to simply be a K&N drop in air filter to replace the OEM, and the very last which is the 4cyl oil filter. If you actually read the descriptions on the other items on the list they are "universal" filters and kits. None of them actually intended for the 08-present Malibu.

If you have a stock air filter box then the K&N drop in will work. Mine is part number 33-2296 and it fits perfectly.

All those other filters are just fluff advertising.

Yes, that one.

It filters the air to keep potentially damaging particles from entering the engine. The K&N and other brands of cleanable oiled filters claim that the oil helps capture more particles and gets better at filtration after it has been used for a while. That just means that the holes that the air passes through become smaller as they get clogged with particles, making it harder for smaller particles to pass through.

It's worth the money IF you keep the car and then clean and re-oil the filter. It'll save you the price of a filter every 15,000 miles. At about $10-12 each, that's 4-5 filters to cover the cost of the K&N, or about 60,000-75,000 miles. Then all you have to do is get the cleaning kit and pay it off with another couple of filters and you're all set. Then, when you get the next car and have to get another K&N, you'll already have the cleaning kit paid off. So, it's more of an investment.

The nice thing about the reuseable filters is they tend to breathe better, resulting in a very slight improvement in HP and/or mileage, but not likely in the range of 7-15 HP. On our cars, the 4-cyl might see 1 or 2 and the V6 might see 2-3. (This is all guess work because I haven't seen any published figures.) The claims of 7-15 HP are on much larger engines.

I would not recommend any filters that use oil. The oil can, and has proven to damage MAF sensors. Use dry filters, not oiled ones.

K&N likes to claim it isn't their oil. But Many forums I am on have huge topics on this. LS1tech actually had a huge group, including myself that had contact with K&N over the issue and K&N was booted as a sponsor. I can speak from first hand experience as the oil ruined the MAF sensor, throwing off the tune on my Camaro to the point I had to get a new MAF. Do what you like, but I strongly recommend staying away from any oil based filter.
