Who knows about this system? The digital read out by the temperature controls? I don't have that in my 1LT but I would like to have it installed. Is that even possible??

As far as I remember it would require a lot of wiring, sensors added, and ducting changed. Its not just as simple as swapping out the HVAC panels.

I had a car with ATC. The most benefit for me was long trips, but around town and short trips I really didn't see any advantage over a manual system. My 2LT has manual and it works just fine. I've taken a number of longer trips and don't have to fiddle with the controls all that much. I suppose if I lived in the car I'd want ATC for sure, but most of my miles are commuting 10 miles to/from work.

My Buick LaCrosse had the ATC system and it was irritating (at least to me) to have to mess with it to raise and lower the temperature. I am perfectly happy with the manual control in the Malibu, although it appears the ATC system in these cars is far less complicated than the system in the LaCrosse.

When I was growing up, we had a 68 Caprice with ATC. It was called Comfortron and while it worked as designed, we found the system suited our needs better to leave it in the manual position and not set the temperature by the little temperature wheel. I guess that is why I sometimes feel the simpler things are, the better. My opinion only, of course.

I have the automatic climate control and NEVER use it. I prefer to do it myself. I do like how you can fine tune the temp though and it looks better. My Mazdaspeed3 has it as well, along with dual zone. I probably won't use that either LOL.

I haven't messed with the ATC in a Malibu, but I had an 08 Avalanche with it, and really didn't like it other than it would automatically turn on the heat or A/C with remote start regardless of where you left it.

I just found it very difficult to adjust while trying to drive, and in manual mode took too long to make big changes, and never used the dual controls. I much prefer the manual controls in my 1LT Malibu...
