My 2006 Malibu with 175k miles, just started what seems to sound like a bearing noise after I start the car and till it warms up. I cannot hear the noise inside the car after it warms up. With the hood open it sounds louder by the belt. I do not see any fluctuations while the belt is spinning. How do I troubleshoot this issue?

Thanks,
Terry

Take the belt off and spin each pulley for noise. Also move side to side looking for play in each one.

As just a guess.....remember guess... it will be tensioner....or alternator...in that order

Some people change belts...but forget.... the tensioner is part of that maintenence. ..so they go bad
