Hi guys I have search the forums for a little bit and could not find my answer. If I missed it I am sorry.

I was wondering what the best oil would be for my 09 bu?

I am running Valvoline Max life right now I have 55*** miles.
I am just not sure if its the best oil I could be running.

I would like to know if you know what the best oil would be??
Thank you for any input!!

Scnmider89,

I have read your post about the type of oil that you should be using for your 2009 Chevrolet Malibu. On page 5-21 is the following information:

Look for three things:
• GM6094M-Use only an oil that meets GM Standard GM6094M.
• SAE 5W-30-SAE 5W-30 is best for the vehicle. These numbers on an oil container show its viscosity, or thickness. Do not use other viscosity oils such as SAE 20W-50.
• American Petroleum Institute (API) starburst symbol- Oils meeting these requirements should have the starburst symbol on the container. This symbol indicates that the oil has been certified by the American Petroleum Institute (API).

Please, remember to use only engine oil identified as meeting GM Standard GM6094M and showing the American Petroleum Institute Certified For Gasoline Engines starburst symbol. Failure to use the recommended oil can result in engine damage not covered by the vehicle warranty. This information is also in your owner's manual.

Take a few minutes and read about oil. After doing so I ended up using full synthetic AMSoil 5W30. It's only $5.50 a quart so it is cheaper than Mobil 1 or Valvoline. It meets and exceeds all standards required for an engine, even the new 2011 standards.

Walmart always has a good price on the 5 qt. containers of Mobil 1.

I was just there today, $24.50 for 10w30 regular Mobil 1, and $28 for the extended mileage (15,000 mile) 10w30.

I didn't check, but their 5w30 should be about the same price.
