both my rear speakers blew at about 42k miles (maybe due to bass & volume)...

I want to replace them with something not too expensive that won't blow with just the factory head unit with the bass and volume cranked all the way up...I'm not looking to modify the audio system...just replace my blown speakers...

can someone point me in the right direction? i tried to google the specs for the speakers (not the size) so I'd know what to look for, but had no success...

i do know how to un and reinstall the speakers...it's just a question of what EXACTLY to buy...

Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated!! Thanks in advance!

Maybe try a set of 6x9 pioneer's from walmart maybe, their not too expensive, they are more durable then stock speakers, you shouldn't have to spend more than $60 on a set of two speakers.

still trying to figure this out...i understand the oem speakers have a built in sub-woofer...is this correct? if so, would that be what is referred to as a 4-way speaker?

I know these are stupid questions...i just really don't know...

Some Malibu's have a premium sound system, Bose or monsoon ( I may have spelled that wrong) as far as 4- way speakers go no its not.

A 4-way speaker is like a door speaker with tweeters in them, to my knowledge that is.

The rear speakers are 6x9's. I'm not sure what sound system your LTZ has but unless its the bose your head unit might put out 10w rms so pretty much any aftermarket speaker will handle that wattage. As for the 4 way speakers it means it has one woofer and three tweeters (woofer for lows, a midrange, a tweeter, and a super tweeter).
