While ordering parts for my Navigator on RockAuto, I also ordered the vacuum pump for the wife's Malibu. From the pic it looked like it came with the gasket. But when it arrived the black area is metal, I'm guessing this is a gasket ..... right? I did a search for ["vacuum pump" gasket] but didn't find any comments that included "gaskets". To buy the gasket [Part # 12654112] cost just as much as the pump!

Are there any hoses, etc that should be changed at the same time ?

Thinking about changing it at the end of next summer and just wanting to make sure I have everything.

The black part is the gasket. You have to make sure you get all of the old black gasket off the side of the engine when you install the new one... mine was stuck on there pretty good. Maybe you'll get lucky and it will stick to the pump! When I did mine I didn't change the booster hose.

Not a tough change at all just make sure you turn the vacuum pump so it aligns with the end of the camshaft. It's straightforward.

EDIT: When I changed mine I ordered the pump and gasket but it did come with the gasket so ended up with an extra. I checked my history and it was only $6 at the time so that thing really inflated!

EDIT2: On second thought, apparently only the 2.0T gasket went up. The 1.5T gasket is $2 now compared to the 2.0T version at $45. What on earth!

I'm alittle confused, if this gasket is all metal then it should not be a problem getting it off. Was your gasket other than metal???

For $2 I would have ordered the gasket to make sure I had one to, but at $45 ...... I CAN WAIT !
Besides it came with the gasket, so I have everything I need then.

Appreciate the help!
