Caliper Mounting Bracket Bolts - use Loctite?

16460 Views 9 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  kzoomale
I am preparing to change the front brake pads of my 06 Malibu. I went to Adv Auto Parts to purchase new pads. The sales person told me that when I go to screw the caliper mounting bracket bolts back on that I should use a little loctite on them. Is this correct? I've owned a Dodge and Ford prior to this and, if anything, I've used Anti-Seize. Thank you.

Thanks for checking! Just to clarify - I was told to use a little Loctite on them when putting them back on. I have the Haynes Repair Manual for '04 - '07 Malibus and it says nothing about putting Loctite on the bolts when putting them back on. I'm thinking the person at Adv Auto Parts is telling me this out of his own experience. If you (or others) have never done this though then that is good to know. Thanks again.
Dennisk and chevyguy: thank you so much for your time looking into this!!! It is much appreciated.
