It similar to a rolling suitcase...please see the link below to see exactly what I'm working with.

I have a folding wheelchair that is 36" x 24" x 16" and desperately need to know if we will be able to fit it through the trunk opening and loaded into the trunk of a 2018 Malibu.

I am making travel arrangements for an upcoming emergent trip and, due to the circumstances, do not have access to measure for it.

It is only ~50 lbs (and I will have assistance) so it can be maneuvered any which way necessary to load it up...that is, if it is even possible at all. Is this going to be workable? If so, are we looking at an easy-peasy fit or will we have to finagle it in? What if it was 36" x 24" x 20" (I have an accessory I can take off or leave on)?

I am just awful at spatial relationship-type stuff, so any explanation of how to execute this task would be greatly appreciated and very much put my mind at ease. Currently I use a XL wheelchair van, so space is a non-issue. Please, explain it like I'm 5 (I'm really that bad at figuring out stuff like this lol).

Does anyone know the answer to this? Or even/also the trunk and trunk opening length x width x height dimensions of a 2018 Malibu (every search just gives me cubic feet)?

Edit to Add: I need to know if it will fit in without using a device or folding the seats down. I am not concerned about scratching. I am only interested in finding out if it will fit in a malibu trunk as is, not alternative solutions. Thank you.

If you're buying or leasing the car, you can have a small receiver added that will let you insert a wheelchair carrying device. That way you preserve the trunk space and have much less risk of scratching things.

If it's a rental or being borrowed, then the trunk is your option. However, you have another way of getting it into the trunk. Drop both rear seat backs and put it into the trunk through that opening, then put the seats back up. That'll make a larger opening that could be less of a fight than doing it from the rear of the car.

thanks for the answer, but i specifically need to know if it will fit in the trunk of the car as is, without folding seats down, sorry I should have been more specific that I was only looking for the answer to my question not alternative options. do you have this information? do you know if it will fit in the trunk of a malibu without regard for scratching, not using a device, and without folding the seats down?

also, its a folding wheelchair, those are never appropriate to put on a cargo bin or wheelchair lift as they would get quite damaged without the weight needed to prevent jostling. I included the dimensions and reference photo so folks familiar with wheelchair transportation could see what I am working with, but it is the same as a large suitcase basically.
