This may sound like an odd one, but I guess I am the only guy who actually uses the cargo net in his car.

I have one in a 2006 Monte Carlo that I am traded in. It looks like 2010 Malibus do not have this option. Does anyone know of a properly sized aftermarket cargo net I can get? Is it an easy install?

Mine didn't come with one but I took the one out of my Olds Intrigue before I traded it in and put it in the Malibu. It is a little larger that the one that would come with the Malibu but it works well enough for me.

If you have a 2008 through 2011 Malibu, of any trim level, that did not come with the side cargo nets and you would like to add them for you vehicle, the part number is 15899374 (MSRP $12.88 each). Technically this is a replacement part not an accessory item. Both the left and right sides use the same part number and you will need to purchase 2 of these nets if you want a net on both sides.

Don’t be fooled (particularly if you own a 2010 or later model) by somebody telling you that the part number for these side cargo nets is 19202911 (MSRP $45.00), this is the official GM/Chevrolet accessory catalog part number for a packaged pair of side nets for the 2010 and later Malibu’s. This package contains 2 of the 15899374 side nets and an instruction sheet and costs $19.24 more (at MSRP prices) than buying the 2 side nets separately as replacement parts without instructions.

The rear envelope cargo net is available as an accessory item. Only 1 net is required, the part number is 17803172. (MSRP $45)

Because both the side and rear cargo nets share the same mounting hooks at the rear of the vehicle to attach them, it can be tricky to use both the side and rear nets at the same time. What I found to be the best idea is to thread the attachment loops of the rear net through the attachment loops of the side nets then attach the rear net to the mounting hooks in the vehicle.

I took the cargo net out of my old car before returning it. Hopefully it fits. :)

Same here, took the one from my intruige. I just tide up a few knote on each side to shroten it up and now it fits pretty well, not perfect but works.

Glad you found the info useful, I hope the price has not changed much.

Be careful when tightening down the convenience net hooks, which are also holding the truck liner trim in place. Removal of the rear hooks is necessary for access to the taillight assemblies. They are made of plastic and strip easily. Replacement part number is 25687319 (MSRP $2.68 each).

There were a few online GM parts places (it seems a few other dealers have set up online parts shops similar to GMpartsdirect / Flow Chevrolet) and also ebay.

I bought from a place on ebay that charged me $27, including shipping.

Just like you said, there were several places trying to charge a lot more.

Is this price for the side nets, rear net or both?
This was for the two side nets. The base price before shipping fee was under $19.

I can see the usefulness of the side nets. I've tried to imagine when I'd ever use the rear "envelope" net and decided it was just not very likely I needed it. The side nets are definitely useful, given the shape of the trunk. I brought home a small bag from the store yesterday - it slid all over the place. That's when I decided I wanted to get the side nets.

I'm actually looking for at least one side cargo net now as well.

I've checked 3 different online GM parts stores. All want anywhere from $9-10.03 for the part (each) but then $9 shipping as well. I don't understand how a small cargo net can cost $9 in shipping. I ship things all the time and there is no way it wouldn't fit in a flat rate $5 box.

I'll keep looking.

lol, I don't know why they bother with it, just make the selling price where they want it instead for fake shipping costs. Unless it coming from Hong Kong
