Cat Back Exhaust Questions

12609 Views 46 Replies 14 Participants Last post by  DrivenDaily
Hey everyone, I looked on magnaflow website and they don't seem to have any information on the pricing of the exhaust system. I am curious to know if anyone has a system that is cat back that doesn't void warranty? Please tell me your setup etc... thanks

i personally like the sound of it vs stock. To each his own though :) How much would a system like that run? and the big Q. Would it sound similar to that even though I only have the 4 cylinder?
Check this out, tomorrow I am deleting the muffler and just adding straight pipe. I am doing the same thing the guy in the above videos did. I will post clips of it tomorrow.
It would cost nothing really! Just a little labor if you took it somewhere and a couple feet in pipe which is cheap. I am doing it myself but its cheap.
Cant wait for the magnaflow cat back to come out! Just ordered the cat back flowmaster american thunder set up for my 07 Tahoe. CAI coming after thats in, then a tune. Wish there were more options for the BU. However...... this new year will be bringing some experimentation I think. Just gonna cut out the huge, heavy muffler and pop in a borla I think. No sense in trying to sound like I have 2 more cylanders than I do. The Borla will sound good I think with a v6. Also going with larger slash cut tips as this smooths out the sound alot better. May even cut them to a more severe angle. Then drop in a K and N air filter, then take it to a guy I know and see if he can tune it.
I deleted the muffler today and just put a y pipe in place. It really opened the sound of the car up. On idle it sounds throaty and when you get on it is sounds refined. THE ONLY thing I dont care for is the drone noise around 2,400 rpm.. It can be a bit annoying but I need more time to drive it and then I will let you know.

do you think itd be worth it with a 4 cylinder?
I think a 4cylinder would need the magnaflow muffler. It could be gold to your ears or you could hate it.

do you have a link to this muffler you speak of?
Glad you like it man. Its got that... European muscle sound  don't you think?

After you drive for a while you'll find some great tones can come out of these things.
Yeah it sounds like a Indy Car, European car, a little V8 when under certain RPM's... It has a lot of cool sounds... It's not ricey either which is what I like. The drone can be a tad bit annoying though.

I'm not a member of Facebook and don't want to join. Can you post the video on a photo sharing site, like Photobucket, Flickr, Image Shack, etc., so more of us can view it?

While I still am not a fan of any exhaust on GM V6's, I will have to admit it is the best sounding cat-back I have heard so far on a 3.6....
what are your opinions on how it would sound on a 4 cylinder? I just hate the sound now, anything would be an upgrade in my eyes :)

AirForce1136, where did you buy the magnaflow kit? i just checked their web site and they dont show it to be ready for sell yet?
Ya I'm pretty sure the people at magnaflow know what they are doing they know how to get enough HP out of the exhaust system and not sacrifice the low end torque! either way anything is better than the stock set up!;)

Did u notice any significant power gains from this kit? im considering of buying this myself
I meant to do this a while ago, but here is mine.
Its straight pipe from the resonator back.

I think I got about an extra maybe 2-3 hp. Nothing crazy tho. I like the sound better then a straight pipe any day tho. It's the same setup and sound as the v-6 camaro. It was around 400 bucks for the whole kit. Totally worth it!
