Good afternoon, Just wanted to give an update on my progress with my Malibu, to start off my car is a 2020 RS. Previous mods I've done are muffler and silencer delete, AEM cold air intake, aftermarket amp and subs, blacked out taillights and 3rd brake light along with the bumper reflectors which somebody stole off the car 😡, blacked out the chrome window trim and tinted the windows all around.
I ended up purchasing a set of used coil overs from another forum and installed them over the weekend along with a universal catch can I purchased from Amazon. I'll post some pictures later today just bored at work and been wanting to contribute to the Malibu community my thoughts and experiences with any questions out there.
The coil overs are from Rev9 power sports, I installed them over the weekend and the installation was not difficult but not easy either, lol. this was dealing with my first ever set of coil overs, either I airbagged my vehicles or did a static spring drop so it was a learning curve for me. the ride from having other lowered vehicles is not as smooth as I'd imagine but not terrible. I live in California and the roads out here aren't always the best specially where I live. The adjustability factor for the coil overs in my opinion are not what they claim to be or I installed them incorrectly. to give an example, the fronts are in my opinion too stiff, even with the damping all the way to soft the ride in the front is still pretty stiff, given I have never ridden in a another car that has coil overs so this may be the norm. The rear was super soft and I must agree that I really didn't look at the damping setting on the rear was just excited to get it on the ground lol. So with the rear after firming up the damping setting the ride is not as bouncy in the rear and the damping adjust seem to make a difference from soft to firm. I want the stance to be with the fenders just over the top of the tires and for the most part it achieved that stance. the rear height adjusters are bottom out to its lowest setting which gives me the stance I wanted but leaves anyone wanting to go lower in a pickle. the front are the same height I wanted but those have more to go if I wanted to. Let me know what other information you would like on this topic if any. I only log in about once a day to check to see what's new in the forum .
Now on to the catch can,
I installed an AEM cold air system about a month after I purchased the vehicle and even given the short period of time I did notice when I took the factory airbox and tubing out that there was alot of oil already built up in it little container. then life happened got busy blah blah blah, finally got around to ordering and installing the catch can last weekend after the coil over install. I took the affected parts off meaning the engine cover and located the hose coming back from the air intake and there is a tee, not sure what the two part do exactly but one is the PCV valve and the other is a question. With that, at the tee I heated up the piping after the tee and removed the factory tube off of the tee, Installed the Catch can with the supplied bracket. the tubing that came with the catch can was too small to fit over the factory tee so a little trip to AutoZone to pick up the correct size to fit over the factory tee and hose clamped it all together. Haven't noticed any build of oil yet in the can but it was only last weekend so I shall wait and see. no check engine lights or performance difference noticed.
Happy to answer any of your questions have a good day.
