Okay, so I have a 09 Malibu LS with the standard cd player. No XM, has a input jack and plays mp3 cds. Here's the problem. When I play an mp3 cd I can't change the song. I can't hit the next button. I can only fast forward of rewind thru the songs. Now all of them play, but I can't skip track.

Anyone else had this problem? Is there a certain format a mp3 disk has to be in to work with the Cd player?

Sounds like you created one file on the CD instead of individual files.

Questions:

1. What software did you use to burn the CD?

2. Did you try playing the CD in the computer?

3. Have you ever created a MP3 CD before..... and did it work?

I used Nero to make just a basic Data CD.

I didn't try playing it in the computer first but I will try that. I have made plenty of Mp3 Cd's before. There may be a setting that I've hit within Nero, i'll give it another shot.

Have you tried playing the cd's on a computer, a dvd player, someone elses car cd that you know plays mp3's??

Have tried one of your other mp3 cd's that you previously made in the car cd?

Have you looked at the cd in the computer and see if actually contains the individual files?

Use track-at-once not DAO.

Take the cd's you made and goto Car Toys, Best Buy or some other retailer and see if the cd plays.

I have the 6 cd player and when I put a cd in there it shows the songs as MP3 and D1T1 for disc 1 track 1 and I can go to each track using the next button. And I used Nero making a data cd.

You may want to consider trying this software http://www.cdburnerxp.se/ Its free.

Your problem is the CD player is not seeing the MP3s as individual tracks... it sees them as one really long song.

Ditch Nero and use windows to burn the CD. I did that for my Cobalt and it worked just fine every time.

As others said. If you pop the CD into a computer and see separate mp3 files for each song (in folders presumably) than the cd player is malfunctioning (various issues with those stereos are not unheard of). If it's a single file than the disk is at fault.
