I have a 2010 2.4 engine. Does it have a timing chain or a timing belt. If it has a timing belt how often should it be replaced.

It is a chain. There is no maintanence to it other than having good oil in your motor. The ONLY ecotec engines that had trouble were the 2002 MY. Around 120-130k miles the chains would just snap. However, apparently GM noticed that and there was a different chain on the 03+ model engines.
