I have I 2013 Chevy Malibu that has cloth seats in, I was told my a company that could't put seat warmers in my seats because it was a safety (the cloth would catch fire) issue and they wanted over 2 grand to put all leather interior in my car. Here is my ? If I bought a complete seat assembly with the wiring harness where it feeds back to the fuse block or main feed or what ever, can it be safely done assuming I get the same model year etc. I asked the dealer and they gave me some bs about the rails are different and all that I cant believe that Gm would build the same basic car then only difference is the is the trim they put in. Also It would be nice to have a set that has 6 way power seat at the same time. What I would like to do is buy a wrecked 13 ltz and just transfer all all the pieces over, so I could make sure I had every thing I needed then scrap what was left. Anybody with ideas I'm all ears.
Thanks in advance.

In my Gen7 2011 there are air bags in the outer side bolsters of each front seat. You don't want to put a seat cover over them but I believe you're being handed a line of malarkey about adding heat to the cloth seats. I have a La-Z-Boy with cloth and it has the heated seat and back. When it died and the company wouldn't honor their warranty I called their corporate offices. I learned that the heater should raise the temp to around 118F, which is WAY below the flash point of anything combustible that is in the chair. I would hazard a guess that cars are limited similarly. I mean, come on, I'm wearing cloth when I sit on them - how come I don't go up in flames???

Find a new mechanic!

It's going to depend on several things.

I suspect both front seats may have airbags so unplugging one and plugging in another may not be an issue.

Does the wiring harness have the needed conductors to power the seat warmers? And if it does are there available connectors in the harness behind the center dash to connect switches to turn the seat heaters on?

If you want to make the manual seats power now does the wiring harness have the needed conductors for this?

Somewhere along the way you will probably need to enhance the power and controls wiring to add the functionality you are looking for. If you are bent on doing it I suspect finding the seats from a wrecked car would be the way to go and build up the power and controls wiring you need to accomplish this

The cloth seat argument is BS. I have cloth seats in my Wife's Traverse and the heated seats work great. Have heated seats (although leather interior) in my 2015 Malibu and they work great too.

It's not common but they do have heated cloth seats. Leather is really cold in the winter so most have heat cloth I really don't see a need for it in that respect but I do like the heat on my back so I would use it if I had cloth with heat. If it were me I'd get a universal seat heat kit from amazon there way less than getting a seat and having it wired. Then hide the switch and if the car gets traded and you get another cut the switch off and nobody will ever know.
