Hey all,

I just went and hopped into my 2014 2.5L Chevy malibu LTZ and started it, put it into gear, and then boom some sort of hard clunk when put into reverse. Then the Service power steering, drive with care message popped up. I put it back into park, hopped out and looked under the hood. I couldn't really see the power steering level so I just hopped back in and started it up to see if the message would trigger again, boom, a loud clack sound after start up and the same message popped up. I tried to put it into gear and it made a hard shift into reverse and then was clunking pretty loud on the shift and it was really rough too, like jiggled the car. I tried into neutral and then drive but it made some rough shifting sounds and I shut it down quick to avoid damage.

What did I do to me car? Pleas help and thank you for your time!

The power steering is electronic. When there are certain issues with the vehicle, it decides to jump ship and become undependable, but at least it leaves you a message.

The issue you are describing seems to be with the transmission or the engine. There are others here with a greater knowledge of these systems, so let's see what they have to say.

I've gathered as much so far. From what I've been told, it could be a motor mount or transmission mount that sheared off or is just bad enough that it gave out. I'm just starting my day and will be investing shortly

Thanks for your response!
