hello everyone.
I'm curious and I've seen this discussed but i would like to start a new forum just for this topic.

i know with a little bit of modification the CAI of a cobalt will fit on the malibu but does that go with all of cobalt parts? if anyone has any input i would truly appreciate it. i want to put a CAI in my 2.4

i would like to put upgraded parts in my car. (regardless of a small improvement) i would appreciate any input, but i don't care to hear that "it doesn't do much" i understand its not going to be a race car but something is better then NOTHING. thanks everyone. have a great day!

Not sure if you are asking about all parts or not.

Anyways, the 2.4L 4-cyl engines (LE5 / LE9) are the same in the Cobalt and Malibu. Also, they run the same hubs (wheels are swappable between Malibu and the Cobalt). However, that is where the similarities end. The Malibu runs strictly a 6-spd auto (majority, I think there are some 4 speed autos as well), while the balt runs 5 spd manual and 4 speed autos. The suspension is also different between the two.

What were you looking at upgrading? Go fast bits or handling (or both)!?!?!

The brembo brakes from the turbocharged cobalt ss should fit by the measurements I took. Of course the wheels need to be changed out to the correct offset to fit them, so it is a little on the expensive side to do it. Also, the supercharger (and other parts) from the supercharged cobalt ss should work on the malibu's LE5, but the only hold up there is the capability to get the vehicle tuned properly.

Thank you guys I'm more interested in engine upgrades. CAI, mass air flow sensor, chips and what not. Thank you guys for giving some input. It was very useful.

I too figured out too that the LE5 in the cobalt can share some parts on the LE5 in our cars. Thanks to this I am currently in talks with my local shop to put on a LSJ M62 supercharger or perhaps some parts from a cobalt on the car.
