I have a friend on the diesel forums who I know very well. He makes HID kits for many vehicles and his work is awesome. I talked to him tonight and he is going to put together a kit for the Malibu for me. I also talked to him about possibly a group buy type thing and he said no problem. He uses the top of the line stuff and does a super nice job. He has made me a kit for every car I owned. If anyone is interested let me know.

Remember there are rules to a group purchase. So contact me before you decide to do anything.

As for HID's for your high beams, won't work well as they take too long to heat up.

It seems like members of this site are having really good luck with DDM HID kits and they start at only $35. Not sure if this person would be cheaper, but I just thought I'd add that for you to know before you continue

Do they warranty everything? I know this guy does, ballast and all. I know they are more than $35.00 more like $100.00 but am trying to get fogs, Hi, and low in the package like he did for my truck.

I will talk to you silver ltz if the group buy would work out. Please PM me the rules about group buy etc...

The kits we have made for all my other vehicles have been awesome and the HI beams also work well. It only takes a couple seconds before the brights are doing the job :)

In our Malibu the low beams stay on when the high beams are engaged, so having them not turn on instantly like a halogen bulb isn't unsafe. Some other cars turn off the lows when turning on the highs. In those cars it would be unsafe to have HIDs for highs.

If you get HIDs for your lows, remember to pull the DRL fuse and/or relay. That'll prevent them from blowing up the ballast. I don't know this personally, but I've read it a number of times on this forum. I'm considering HIDs as well so I've been paying attention to the experiences of others.

Reason you don't want high beam HID's in Malibus is because the high beams are not projectors. High beams should be 55w and that would be a scattered mess in a halogen housing. Plus, if you like to flash to pass, or have your high beams come on instantly HID's can not do that, as there will be an annoying delay.

Also, DDM offers a LIFETIME warranty.

Why would I disconnect the DRL?
It runs at a lower voltage to dim the lights during the day and causes flashing, I believe. Also, it helps extend the life of the HID's which is good since no one likes taking the bumper off more than necessary.

Don't due the high beams. The halogen housings will scatter 55w kits and they will not be that great. Plus if you like to flash, you can kiss that good bye. If you want them to match you low beam HID's, just get some "HID" bulbs, they will actually work better.
