I wanted to use the MEGUIAR'S ULTIMATE PROTECTANT on my dash board. After I got reading the malibu owner manual it stated that it only can be clean using mild soap and water. Can't use any silicone or wax based products. I went over to my dealership and talk to someone about how I suppose to protect my dashboard. I was told don't put armor all at or any other products. The factory painted the dash board and if I put armor all on it or other products it will bubble and the paint will peels. I was told that his 35 years of experience he seen paint peel off the dashboard becasue they put armor all on it. His advice is just clean them with little bit of mild soap and water.

I wanted to put Meguiar's Ultimate Protectant on it to have some shine and protection from UV. How I suppose to protect my dashboard with no protectant? I'm afraid I put it on and it will peel. Any advice?

Thanks

Just use care when you are cleaning and protecting the dash to keep the product off the painted parts. I have been using surf city garage cleaner and protectant since I bought the car with no issues. I can redo paint easily, it isn't as easy to pull out the dash when it is cracked and faded. Armor all products will damage pretty much anything and I wouldn't use it at all. The only time I have seen paint peel is on radio buttons and other from people who have lotions or whatever on their hands, and this eats away at the coating.

Is there any products out there that can protects the dash board over paint? I just don't understand why GM factory painted the dash board and make it difficult to keep it from cracking or peeling. Other cars don't have a problems why GM cars?

I think you were told incorrectly. The dash isn't painted. The color is molded into the plastic.

303 Aerospace protectant is good for the cash to protect especially from UV Rays. It doesn't dry out the dash the same way Armor All seems to.

But aside from that, the Armor All issues are mainly leather and vinyl dash. You can clean the dash like any other non translucent plastic.

Oldish thread but whatever, I was shopping around for some cleaning products and I've also been told mild soap and water. I'm choosing to do that for now, since the material for the dash is a bit weird and I think cleaning products would ruin it in the long run. My opinion.
