I have a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu LTZ. 160,000 miles. I have dealt with a couple minor issues with the display over the years, but it always went back to normal. Ex- display would occasionally go out if I hit a bad bump in the road, etc. However, one A.M I turned my car on & found the display was completely blacked out, no sound coming from the radio whatsoever. Unresponsive to volume, source button. The lights on the infotainment center all still work, you can even hear OnStar, when my blinker is on, or if the key is in the ignition and doors opened. Months and countless attempts later & am at a loss. I have tested every fuse, replaced the ones that even looked worn, then tested again. I’ve done the hard resets, left the negative terminal off & let the computer restart. I replaced my battery and as of yesterday installed a new OEM-display. Still no change. Hoping someone has experienced something similar or that maybe there’s something I’m not thinking off/missing.
Open to any advice!
NOTE: I unfortunately do not have the money/time to take it to the dealership for any diagnostic tests/repairs. Hoping to find a solution I can do at home.

I'm pretty sure that the CD player unit under the display also controls the radio. That may have gone bad, or a connection between the CD player and the display unit. Used ones seem to be pretty cheap but I don't know if they need dealer programming after install.

Hi, I have a 2013 Malibu 1LT that we have owned from day 1. The car is garage kept and only had 53,000 miles. My-Link screen is dead. No back up camera, no music, but the lights on the radio move left and right when you increase or decrease the volume dial. All fuses checked and are showing continuity. I did the battery cable removal for 30 minutes and had no improvement. And I don't want to pay the dealer $1000 for a new radio. Is there a switch that kills the display when the compartment behind the radio is open? Can someone from this forum give us some DIY advice? Thank you!
