There's a switch on the dome light itself. In between the front and rear facing lights.

I have on page 3.16 and there is no mention of override on Dome Lamp. Only how to turn on with doors closed.
Interesting. In my '08 LTZ, the switch is right there on the dome light. It's a three-position slider, with positions for "on continuously," "on when doors open," and "off continuously" (regardless of the doors).

Maybe they changed this on the later models. Personally, I would hope they did, because I much prefer a panel switch for the dome lights (and overriding them isn't important to me, anyway--although, I should say, every GM vehicle I've bought since 2002 has some sort of override, so I don't understand why they would leave it off).

Are you wanting to be able to turn on the dome with the door closed? Might check to see what would happen if you mess with the dimmer switch for the dash lights, GM did for awhile have it so the dimmer would turn on the dome light with some cars and truck, but I think this was only on older models and all the newer ones have a three position switch at the dome light.

No, i want to be able to turn dome lights off when the doors are open. i have owned several GM cars and trucks in the past that ALL have had the ability. I am very surprised that this car lacks such a basic function. I have no switch on the dome light itself and have messed with the dash dimmer knob as well.
thanks,

Ok thanks for the clarification on this. Well if there's not a switch on the dome light there's not much you can do that I know of. I will say that if you leave the doors open long enough the interior lights should shut off on their own, GM did this on many of their models so that owners wouldn't accidentally run down the battery with the doors opened more than 10 minutes, I think. Even my 00 will shut off the interior lights if I leave my doors open long enough and it doesn't affect anything. Granted I can shut off the overhead dome light but not the lights under the dash.

Well if anyone figures out how to be able to turn the lights off with the doors open/preventing the lights from ever coming on, please post. I came from an 09 silverado to this 10 Malibu ltz 3.6 and there's no dome override switch! I have looked in the manual and tried google with no luck. Kind of strange and very annoying.
