The chrome vinyl wrap is coming off the driver's side door handle. Is anyone else having the problem? It took a chunk of my skin off and claimed it as a trophy. I peeled some off so my finger wouldn't catch it again.

Do I
A. Live with it as is
B. Replace the handle/handle assembly
C. Try and re wrap it myself

I've never wraped anything and would need a few tools but i love to learn new things but also it's cold outside and don't want to mess around out there unless i have to.

I'd say B. replace it.

Personally, my 2011 has the passenger's handle doing the same thing but to a lesser degree. I might get around to replacing it someday, but if it was on my door then it'd have to go. I would not even try to chrome-plate a plastic handle myself.

They're not the only maker with such issues. In a Mazda 3 I own the plastic wrap on the exterior door frames is coming off (Mazda doesn't pain/coat them like GM and Ford, it's glorified black plastic tape) and the silver paint on the interior door handles has rubbed off in places years ago. GM isn't the only one with garbage trim.

The same thing is happening to my driver side door handle, I went to get out and it sliced my finger open! Blood everywhere! I'm not sure what to do. I was looking to see if there is a recall that is when I saw your message.

I wouldn't expect it to happen to my 2016 Chevy Malibu, but it has.
