Any Chevy techs here? My '02 Malibu is having trouble getting started in the mornings. It cranks over fine and wants to run, but when you release the key it immediately dies. This will happen about five times, then it will start and run with no problems. It has 50,000 miles and is the V-6. The theft light is not flashing, the check-engine light is not on, and a code reader shows no codes stored.
Any ideas?????

Last time that happened to me it was the crank-shaft possition sensor.

I don't know what's wrong, but if it's the same issue I had with the Grand Am, if you blip the gas before it dies, it should rev the engine up and prevent it from dying. Mine did this normally after the engine was already warmed up.

There's a guy on United Malibu's website who can help you out, just look for lvemy3100 and send him a PM or post a thread on that site, you'll need to be a member though. It could be something simple.

Well lets see, I doubt it will be the ignition switch cause that might give the theft light, that's what it did with me. I also don't believe it's the fuel filter. Something could be loose or dirty maybe.
