Hello everyone! I have a 2021 Malibu LT and the exterior passenger's side b-pillar cover - the black plastic bit on the b-pillar side of the door - is cracked. I have found the part I need and after much investigation I figured out where the 3 torx screws are to remove it (1 is on the interior side of the door in the upper right and the other 2 are hidden under the window seal) but it still will not come out. Is it glued in there? It looks like it would just slide out after removing those screws but it barely budges. It's this piece here:

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

Oh yes, they glued it in addition to the 3 screws. Make sure you clean any old adhesive with goo gone or 50/50 isopropyl alcohol.

Is it actual glue or double-sided tape? If glue, what would you recommend to remove the piece: pry it with a screwdriver, etc? And what type of glue would you recommend for reinstallation?

Thanks in advance!

I had to investigate that. I knew about removing adhesive residue before reinstalling but not what it's from. It is indeed tape.

Okay, awesome. I guess just some gentle prying with a screwdriver should do the trick to get it out of there? Problem is finding a good place to pry with adequate leverage without damaging anything. I have some strong double-sided tape I can use for reinstallation. Thanks for your assistance so far!

Sincerely,

You found one screw that screws from the inside out at the top right? Then two that screw outside towards the inside? Just making sure what I have matches the real world. If so yes, should just be a pry. I'd wear safety glasses in case it splinters and shoots.

Yes, looking from inside there's a screw that screws "out" (the head is facing inside) in the upper right corner of the door and two that are hidden under the window seal that have their heads facing outward.
