Hello, I recently got a Cehvy Malibu LT 2018. I don't like the Stop/Start feature and found about the L6 mode fix. I was wondering if driving in L6 mode turns off traction control. I also heard that you should put it in L2 first during winter as to not skid out when you start moving, is that true?

L modes maintain traction and stability control. The L modes function as a range select. If you use L2, it just means the transmission will be limited to 1st and 2nd gear. In L6 it is expanded to all gears. When using L mode the transmission will still automatically shift inside the requested max range.

I used to own a 1964 Mercury Parklane with the Cruis-O-Matic 3-speed transmission. The shifter had D, L2, L1. When placed in L2, it would start in 2nd and then shift to 3rd.

Not so with your L mode, as pointed out by @campb292.
