Finished putting in my DDM Tuning hid kits today. Started last night around 11 after putting HID's in my parents legacy. I went with the digital ballasts this time and I have to say they are worth it, even if the only benefit is space savings. nI went with 5k low beam and 3k fog lights the head lights are the only ones on a relay harness. I also painted an LT black grill to match my car and replace my broken LTZ grill, it almost looks like the LTZ grill just a little lighter and more metal flake. I will take some better pictures of the lights tonight.

Congrats on the newest mod! Looks like a clean install too.
Thanks. I am a little obsessive when it comes to my car and doing things right the first time:). Maybe too obsessive since between working on my parents car and my car last night I forgot to eat any dinner (I realized that at about 1A.M.):D. I am done for the year on any big mods.

Thank you. These are definitely bright at night and it doesn't have a horrible light beam spread. The 3k's should be really nice when winter hits and the lake effect snow starts to fall. I have always had 6K hid's in my other vehicles, but I think I like the 5K's better.

That job looks like you really took the time to do it well. The fogs have a nice cut off, too. That's how all fog lights should be.

Thanks for sharing!

That cutoff of the fogs keeps the beam nicely under control too. I was going to do a how to for the bumper removal with good pictures, but forgot.

For reference for anyone that needs ideas for how to mount the ballasts, the 3M double sided adhesive tape works really well for this. I got the widest tape possible and cleaned the mounting surface really well with alcohol. The adhesive tape is meant for body moldings, but it works really well for the 1/2 LB ballasts. The location shown by the headlight leaves the wires for the ballast accessible by just pulling the fendwell cover back, and it is the same for the fog lights.

Wow, these look really nice. The 5000k pure white looks nice on a silver car. I have 5k amber/white switchback LED turn signal bulbs if your interested and I don't use them on my car (not sure if I want to deal with the hassle of an HID installation)

Thanks. The whole install really isn't as hard as it looks to do, once it is done it is well worth it. I am interested in bulbs like what you have, just don't have any money right now. I am curious though if they require load resistors for them to flash normal. I am getting tired of looking at the amber bulbs, I think it throw off everything lol.

I've asked a couple of people on cardomain.com that have LED lights in their directionals with 08+ Malibus, but haven't gotten any responses. I know that with my 06 Mustang I used to have, I bought load resistors when I bought the bulbs, but never used them because there wasn't any hyper-flashing.

Maybe once I'm on Christmas break and go home, I'll take the bumper off and install some HIDs but I'm not sure.

Out of curiosity, where is the battery located in the Malibu? Front right hand side, or back left hand side?

On '08+ Malibus the battery is under a cover directly above the left suspension. Under that is the battery and a fuse box.

Hyper-flashing when using LEDs instead of incandescent bulbs can be cured by using load resistors. I used them in my '09 for a while but switched back to stock. Since I had modified my DRLs to use the turns instead of low beams the LEDs started to burn out an element at a time, and some were flickering. Plus they weren't as bright as the stock bulbs. I guess they don't like being on continually. I installed my resistors between the battery box and the front of the car by mounting them through a hole and hanging them where they would be more likely to be in a moving air flow, hoping to keep them from burning up under the cover or melting anything. (Yes, they were energized only during turns, not during DRL use.)

Since the 'Bu doesn't have a traditional flasher there's no other way to make them flash at the correct speed (as far as I know), like replacing the flasher can.
