Got around to paint matching my bow ties and washer nozzles today. Took almost all day, but it came out nice IMO. Sorry for the bad pics, my camera does not take good night shots.

Thanks. I did find out something interesting in the search for the correct paint; apparently around 97' and up malibu's use the same color silver GM just changed the name year to year. I ended up with duplicolor for the silver and plastikote clear which is amazing and easy to use.

Very nice! One question, the grills are PTM or are they already silver because its an LTZ?
Thanks, your write-up helped out for this. The grill is silver since it is an LTZ. They look good paint to match though, my buddies white malibu looks good with a white grill, especially with the chrome trim.

Great, I was thinking that mine would look good PTM and might go through with it soon.

Thanks. I will have the guy send me a picture of the front of his car and I will post it up asap. Are your headlights tinted?

The Bowties look great. Did you remove them or paint them on the car?

Thanks. I ended up painting them on the car. Involved lots of masking and covering half the vehicle with newspaper; which may have been overkill, but the over spray was floating everywhere.

Malo83, here is the picture of my buddies car with the white grill.

I also got my windows tinted 20% all around and 5% sunstrip.

Ever thought of color matching the headlights? We did it on the Cobalts... just takes an afternoon in the kitchen.

If you set your oven on 150 or so you can "bake" the headlights and the goo that seals the cover on will soften. Then you take a knife and gently go around the whole thing... the cover comes off. Tape off the reflectors and paint the rest of the housing in body color... once it has all dried get some new sealant and put the cover back on. Looks really sweet.

Raineman,

I think the issue on the Bu's that you need to remove the entire bumper to get at the headlights (even to just remove a bulb). On the balt we could just undo 2 bolts and pop it out.
If you could get a pair of lights from a wrecker to do the paint work and confirm they are good and then take the 1/2 day to swap the lamps.

Raineman, I want to do it, but I would want a second set that I could do it on so I didn't have any downtime. I also want to figure out how to get rid of the yellow reflector if I ever do paint match the headlights.

WOW those grey bowties really give it a great look
Thanks

If you want rid of the yellow reflectors, just black them out with nightshades, that's what the black square is on those lights pictured.

Probably a good idea on having a 2nd set of lights so you can take your time. I had helped a few friends do their lights before I did mine, so I knew what to expect. Try e-bay.
